These are the books I have checked out of the library and read for this challenge.

Death by Darjeeling by Laura Childs (done 1/1/11)

Death by Darjeeling by Laura Childs

I accidentlay order this book in large print, and I have to admit it made it difficult for me to read. I like paperbacks, so it really was a struggle to get past that. Additionaly, I thought "wow, large print this shoudl go fast." Nope I actually felt like I was having trouble finishing this one. I think it is because it is such a busy time of year.

This is the first in the Tea Shop Mystery Series by Laura Childs. I have really enjoyed the others, so what I did appreciate about this one was that she goes into detail to establish a little more about the relationships with many of the reoccurring characters in the novel.  In the otheres in the series she alludes to some of the this information but for the most part she just gives you enough to get going on the story.

In this particular story the Indigo Tea Shop are serving at the "famous" Lamplighter Tour. While serving out on the garden, one of the patrons ( who happens to be a big building tycoon everyone despises) is discovered dead. Naturally, Beth (who is a friend of Harley and a part time worker for Theodosia) is questioned. This is what draws Theodosia into "solving the mystery". There is interesting insight into how this comes about and if you read later novels, I think she actually makes some rookie mistakes that I would like to think she wouldn't do in the later books.I will be honest because I have read previous books in the series, I was able to figure out who the murderer was pretty early on in the book. I can never do that, so I felt cool that I could this time. :)

I definitely think this is worth the read because you do get some interesting insight into the relationships between Theodosia and other characters in the book. What I think is also interesting are some of the developing relationships and characters that take on changing roles as the series matures.
