Murder is Binding by Lorna Barrett

I have to say it has been awhile since I had a book that I could not put down. I really enjoyed this one for what it is... a nice cozy mystery. First off, I love the cover. I have the paperback version which shows a quaint street with shops lining the sidewalk. They are all bookstores... which I love small, intimate bookstores. The premise of the book is that bookshop owners were solicited to open their specialty bookstores in a gentrified area of a small town in New Hampshire. The heroine of the story, Tricia Miles, does just that. She owns a specialty mystery bookstore. Needless to say, a murder takes place next door in the Cookery bookshop and Tricia is "the last person that saw Doris alive" and therefore is implicated. Without enough evidence to arrest, the local detective/ cop just accuses and threatens. This forces Tricia to solve murder mystery herself.

I have to say I enjoyed the fact there were multiple believable murderers in this book. That always makes it more interesting to me when ready a story. I also enjoyed the side stories (i.e the relationship between Tricia and her sister, the employees in her store, the friendship with the other towns people). I think that also makes a story richer and more enjoyable on multiple levels. Character driven stories are typically easy reads to me. Murder is Binding provides all of that while being a nice quick easy read... which is where I am in my life right now with two kids under 5, 3 busy border collies, 3 crabby old men cats, a husband, and a house to take care of...
